DAWSON, IL - Alan "Big Al" L. Sarnes, 66, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1952, to Will D. and Mary Lou (Ebert) Sarnes. He was preceded in death by his father; and brothers, Roger and Ricky.  He married Vicki Motter on September 6, 1990.

Alan was a jack of all trades, having worked as a truck driver for 14½ years, a carpenter and a mechanic. He was a history buff and was very patriotic. He enjoyed current events and attending steam shows. He was a big NASCAR fan and a member of American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki; children, Lisa (Mel) Bonner, Renee (Shane) Price and Jason (Lindsay) Tevlin; adopted family, Alex Blose and Melody (Bryon) Gooden: 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; mother, Mary; and sister, Kathy Sarnes.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-6 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019, at VFW Post 10302, 2349 Stockyard Road, Springfield, IL.
