SPRINGFIELD – Albert Schober, Jr., 95, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Villas East in Sherman.

He was born August 21, 1930, to Albert and Johanna (Aubel) Schober. He married Barbara Ann Smith on October 12, 1951 in Springfield. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2025. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Schober.

Al was a US Air Force veteran. He graduated from Lanphier High School and attended Western Illinois University. He was employed with Capitol Automotive retiring after 39 years of service. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini fan.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Linda) Schober, Janet (John) Willis, Doug Schober (companion, Shawn DeVillez) and David (Kim) Schober; sister, Bonnie Alewelt; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Cody Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
