SPRINGFIELD – Alice Marie Elchlepp, 80, passed away peacefully at Concordia Village and was united with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

She was born in Alton on September 20, 1945, to Edward and Helen (Sievers) Ruehrup. She married Donald R. Elchlepp on September 21, 1968, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Darian Ruehrup.

Alice previously worked for Federal Land Bank, Lutheran High School as a secretary/typing teacher, and was an in-home daycare provider for many years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Jennifer (Lee) Bonin, Erica (Terry) Purcell and Nadine (Matthew) Murillo; grandchildren, Jonah Barker (fiancée, Carolina Sandlin), Hannah (Dylan) Kesselmayer, Callidora Liapakis, Eleni Liapakis, Owen Murillo and Emmett Murillo; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Ethan and Theo Kesselmayer; brothers, Wayne (Judy) Ruehrup and Gene (Donna) Ruehrup; sister, Janice (Robert) Weise; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. A luncheon will immediately follow at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
