SHERMAN – Alice Ann Fisher, 90, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born August 2, 1935, to Clem P. and Lillian (Schleper) Wente. She married Charles A. Fisher on October 15, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon and he preceded her in death in 2014. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; great-grandchildren, Jack Pighetti, Maksymilian Fisher and Luka Fisher; sisters, Betty Metzger, Deloris Anderson and Mary Lou Barber; brothers, William Wente, Clemmie Wente and Mike Wente; and son-in-law, Donald Pighetti.

Alice was a homemaker. After raising her children, she was a cafeteria manager for Springfield School District 186, from where she retired. She was a member of St. John Vianney Church, many card clubs and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She is survived by her children, Charles E. (Stacy) Fisher, Lori Ann Pighetti, Paula J. (John) Magdich, Brad (Kelli) Fisher and Jennifer Lynn (Derek) Eastep; grandchildren, Zachary Fisher, Isaac Fisher, Seth Fisher, DJ Pighetti, Angie DeMers, Meghan Haycraft, Taylor Czerniejewski, Aaron Fisher, Ahabb Fisher, Abbie Moynahan and Delaney Eastep; 17 great-grandchildren, sister, Pat Kuhns; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Wente and Rachel Wente; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with Reverend Fredrick Mbiere officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
