SPRINGFIELD – Ann L. Hughes, 81, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her home.

She was born in Kirkland, GA on May 12, 1943, to Johnie and Emma (Douglas) Taft. She married Ronald Brown in Montgomery, AL on May 13, 1962. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1994. She later married Richard Hughes on January 14, 1997.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Johnie (Dorothy) Taft, Jr., Jack Taft, Carlton Taft, Wilma (A.K.) Giddens and Elsie (Harold) Parish.

Ann was a secretary/ bookkeeper for Prairie International Trucking, retiring in 1998. She was a member of First Church of God and Red Hats Club. She was a Girl Scout Leader and President of the Women's Club. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spending the holidays with family. She was a generous person and an amazing cook. She enjoyed many years of traveling to Florida for the winter and camping.

She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick"; daughters, Debra (John) Blanton and Cindy (Steve) Surber; grandchildren, Chelsea (Corey) Bell, Travis (Taylor) Blanton, Lexi Blanton, Justin Surber and Jordan Surber; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jenelle Taft; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Kroft officiating. Burial will follow in Horse Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: First Church of God or Children's Miracle Network.
