SPRINGFIELD, IL - Ann Elizabeth Pacatte, 80, formerly of Waverly, Chicago and Midlothian, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at her home.
She was born in Chicago on November 29, 1941, to Henry and Beatrice (Feller) Comer. She married Marcel Pacatte on June 11, 1960, in Midlothian. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Peter, Jerome and Michael Comer; and sisters-in-law, Louise Comer and Macile (Pacatte) Hooper.
Ann was a juvenile parole officer with the Illinois Department of Corrections, covering seven counties in central Illinois, and later was a counselor at the prison in Jacksonville. She also, with her husband, was co-publisher of the Waverly Journal for many years. She was an active member of the Illinois Women's Political Caucus, Waverly Junior Women's Club and the Lincoln Land Community College Faculty Wives. She had been a member of St. Sebastian Church in Waverly and St. Ita Church in Chicago and was a Secular Franciscan.
She is survived by her children, Marcel of Chicago, Michael of Goodland, IN, and Amy (Jim) Haugh of Springfield; grandchildren, Maggie and Brian Haugh; sister, Barbara (Al) Fox of North Aurora; sisters-in-law, Joyce Comer of Joliet and Kathy Helmke of Bastrop, TX; many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with the Very Reverend Brian C. Alford officiating. Inurnment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
