SPRINGFIELD – Bernard "Barney" L. Hart, 96, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

He was born April 20, 1927 to Max and Ann Hart. He married Dorothy Ann Spence on April 8, 1951 at South Side Christian Church.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Rose Walker and son-in-law, Wayne "Mo" Morrow.

Barney was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Standard Mutual Insurance Co.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Brenda Hart and Penni Lynn Hart; son-in-law, Anthony Trites; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Cindy Lash officiating. Private burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
