SPRINGFIELD, IL – Betty J. Powell, 89, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Auburn Nursing and Rehab.

She was born April 14, 1933, to Henry and Freda (Floyd) Dickman. She married George C. Powell on February 6, 1954. He preceded her in death in 2013. Four children, Debra, Georgia Ann, Bettie Jo and George, Jr. and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Betty was formerly employed by the Special Education Development Center, now Lee School. She was a member of Real Life Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Gerald (Cindy) Powell, Cole (Tammy) Powell, Thomas (Jennifer) Powell, Geoffrey Powell and Carol Hamilton; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several brothers, sister, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
