SPRINGFIELD, IL – Carol Ann Thomas, 74, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

She was born December 15, 1946, to Pasquale and Elsie Marie (Noll) Gentile. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Joseph Gentile.

Carol retired from the State of Illinois.

She is survived by her children, Jill (Rob) Robinson, Thomas (Cindy) Fitzgerald, Christopher (Marissa) Thomas and Monica (Eric) Gomez; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson, Olivia Robinson, Regan Fitzgerald, Keifer Fitzgerald, Asher Thomas, Elle Thomas, Christian Gomez, Maya Gomez and Leo Gomez; sisters, Marilyn Marshall and Chris (Dennis) Selvaggio; brother, Ben Gentile; companion, Marvin Whitehead; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the funeral home with Pastor Gordon Fidler officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
