SPRINGFIELD, IL – Charles R. Brown, 93, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Iuka, Illinois on December 4, 1927, to Larkin and Leska (Linder) Brown. He married Lucille Pumphrey on January 1, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1994. He married Ruth Bliss on March 21, 1995. She preceded him in death in 2014. He also was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Brown; and a grandson, Bryan Thomas Luka.

Charles was a US Navy Veteran. He retired from Fiat Allis and later retired from the State of Illinois. He attended Restoration Church. He was a Ham radio operator with the call sign WA9ARY. He enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Victor) Tschaika and Karen (Tom) Luka; stepchildren, Harry (Kathy) Grapengeter, Peggy Poplowski and Calvin Grapengeter; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Nichols; brother, Arthur (Donna) Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Horse Creek Cemetery.
