SPRINGFIELD, IL – Charles E. Hanselman, 91, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1929, to Earl and Margaret (Gobble) Hanselman. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy; and brothers, Earl, Jimmy and Michael.
Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a customer service representative for H. D. Smith Wholesale Drug Company for 29 years. He was an avid Cubs, Bears and Notre Dame Football fan. He enjoyed walking and golf and loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Kim Walsh (companion, Jack Schafer), Kari (husband, Randy) Tibbs and Jami (husband, John) Stephens; grandchildren, David, Lauren (companion, Michael), Noah (companion, Courtney), Kyle (fiancé, Kayla), Jason (companion, Jade), Laci (husband, Mark), Katie (husband, Zac), Joe (wife, Chloe) and Samantha (husband, Kevin); great-grandchildren, Amaiya, Dayton, Molly, Joelle, Emelia, Jaxon, Aubrey, Brendon, Cooper, Bretlan and Peyton; sisters, Kay Meneghetti, and Janet Hanselman; many nieces, nephews and cousins and best friend, Guy McCoy.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private family services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
