He was born December 15, 1938, to Arthur and Elvira (Bruebach) Stoeckel. He married Earlene Ramey. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Charles attended Mt. Pulaski and Springfield High Schools and Illinois State University. He was a U. S. Army Reserves veteran. He also did tree work and cut grass for many years until his health declined.  He volunteered for Friend-In-Deed for many years.

Charles loved fishing and the outdoors. Sports were his life. He coached both boys and girls soccer, basketball and baseball and refereed junior high and IHSA boys and girls.

He played softball, tennis with his kids at Lincoln Greens, played soccer and enjoyed. the Prairie State games and loved to water ski. He loved sports and was good at all of them, except maybe golf. Golf was too slow, and he would get bored too quick. He loved to coach kids and he was great at it. He could relate to anyone and any kid.

He didn't know a stranger and would talk to anyone and make them feel comfortable.

He was all about family and friends. He was a true family man with a great sense of humor. Charles was an amazing husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Earlene; daughter, Tamra Moore (husband, Corey) and their daughter, Kiley; son, Kevin (wife, Lisa) and their children, Jakob and Emily; and sister, Kathy Palmer.
