SPRINGFIELD – Charles D. "Danny" Waltrip passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his home.

He was born August 3, 1974 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Danny was a US Navy veteran. He was formerly employed by St. John's Hospital and was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene. He was an expert Origami artist. He enjoyed weightlifting, playing Frisbee and music, having previously played drums. Danny was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Maizy Waltrip; parents, Ronald (Diane) Waltrip and Lori (James) Walker; grandmother, Alice Heath; siblings, Scott (Jen) Waltrip, Angela (Bill) Resinger and Sharon Waltrip;  nephews, Aaron Baker and Chance Resinger; uncle, Gary; and aunts, Janet, Faye and Gail.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene 1108 Daniel Ave., Springfield. A funeral service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Steve Foster officiating. Private family burial will be held.
