SPRINGFIELD – Christine Marlene Ice, 54, is now singing in paradise. She passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 28, 1969, to Darrel Richard and Jean (Cunningham) Ice. She was preceded in passing by her father and God-sister, Etolia.

Christine graduated from PORTA High School in 1987, attended U of I, Lincoln Christian College and received her RN from LLCC. She formerly worked at Memorial Hospital Burn Unit, Anchor Health Homecare Service and most recently at Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center. She traveled extensively, mostly on mission adventures, spending many months and years in Nepal. She was involved with many churches locally and in Katmandu, Nepal. She loved music, books and reading. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang with many area church choirs, the Jacksonville Symphony Choir and karaoke. Christine had a love for the lost and marginalized – homeless, refugees, the disabled and victims of human trafficking.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Jean and Dennis Little of Palmyra; brother, Darren (Courtney) Ice; step-sisters, Teresa Pettit and Kim (David) Kirchner; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins from many states; and close friends including Meredith and Apryl and Sara, both of whom she called her "God-sisters".

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Rochester Christian Church. Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or Rochester Christian Church Missions Fund.
