CHATHAM, IL – Cory Joseph DeRosa, 33, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 16, 1988, to William and Becky (Stephenson) DeRosa. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Stephenson and William and Dorothy DeRosa; step-grandparents, Harold and Ida Kauffman; aunt, Mary DeRosa; and cousin, Jeremy Lynch.

Cory enjoyed basketball, watching movies, video games, collecting tennis shoes, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Baby Penelope; parents, William DeRosa of Chatham and Becky (Brad) Kauffman of Rochester; grandmother, Emilee Stephenson of Rochester; siblings, William R. DeRosa (fiancé, Winda Shephard) of Springfield, Amy (Kevin) Voils of Pawnee, Kenny (Ashley) Kauffman of Montevallo, AL, Rhiannan Kauffman of Bloomington and Emma Kauffman of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Morrissette officiating. Inurnment will follow in Chatham Cemetery.

Following the graveside service, a Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Aqua Sports Club, 1 Club Area, Springfield, IL 62712.
