David N. Barthel, 80, passed away July 3, 2026, at his home.

He was born June 16, 1946, to Clifford and Mary (Sargent) Barthel, both of whom preceded him in death.

David was a US Army veteran. He retired from the State of Illinois. He was a member of the VFW and Eagles Club. He enjoyed traveling, watching all sports and loved his dogs.

He is survived by his sister, Jean Ganther; nephew, Steven Bartz; nieces, Jeanon Smith and Shirley Tiger; great-nephew, Steven Gorbett; and great-nieces, Kayla Bartz and Megan Smith.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton.
