SPRINGFIELD – Dixie L. Day, 81, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born in White Hall on May 31, 1944, to Gene and Marjorie (Kaltschnee) Smith. She married Gail Thomas Day on June 18, 1962 and he preceded her in death in 2017.

Dixie worked as a beautician and was a realtor for John B. Clark Realtor and later RE/MAX Professionals. She previously attended Cherry Hills Church. Dixie enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas. She loved shopping and was an avid Fighting Illini fan. She was a devoted grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Candy (Bret) Wilson and Jeff (Tracy) Day; grandchildren, Joel Day (fiancée, Mary) and Jillian Day; sister, Donna (Jack) Sparrow and Dianna (Doug) Hankins; and several nieces and nephews.
