Dom was born January 27, 1960 to Andrew & Juanita (Mudd) Saccomano in Springfield, Illinois.

Dom was a hard worker, loving husband, supportive father and involved grandfather.  He spent many evenings and weekends building homes in Twin Lakes, Grants Ridge and his own home in Pleasant Plains. Dom showed his children the importance of being a dedicated employee by working for City Water, Light & Power for over 35 years retiring as Meter Reader Forman. He enjoyed being a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame. Dom started bowling at King Pin Lanes at the age of nine and bowled fifteen 300 (perfect) games and had two 800 series games.

Dom was an avid NASCAR & Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed his annual Talladega NASCAR racing trip with his friends. He also loved vacationing in the Caribbean Islands and snowmobiling in the Northwoods with his wife. He was always up for a trip and an adventure with his loved ones.

Dom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Bechtel; and step-mother, Irene Saccomano.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jill (Norman) Saccomano and their three children Garren (Jennifer) Saccomano of Girard, Shawna (Matt) Adams of Greenview and Andrea (Patrick) Donahue of Pleasant Plains. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Zach Darnell, Kali & Ashley Bowen, Miley & Bentley Saccomano, Carter (Kaya) & Maesyn Saccomano, Annalee, Kaden & Kynsley Adams, Avery & Aubrie Donahue and 2 great-grandchildren, Paisley Vollmer and Rudy Saccomano. He is also survived by siblings, Carmella (Mike) Kearns of Springfield, Jerry Bechtel of Houston, TX and Cloyd Bechtel of Springfield; sister-in-law, Jody (Greg) Smith of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Dom would always lend a helping hand to any friend of family member who called. He was a man who took pride in his marriage, his fatherhood and was an excited grandfather. His legacy of hard work and honesty will live on through the generations he so proudly established.

His family would like to thank Dr. Sweid and Shaylee Sullivan at SIU and Dr. Kahn, Amanda Clouser and all the staff at Simmons Cancer Institution in Springfield. Another special thanks goes to Kathy, Carol Lisa, Kim, Scott and Nicole with Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and dedication.

Please join his family for a Celebration of Life that will be held at the VFW Stockyard Road, Springfield on Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 11 am - 4 pm.

Burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 am
