CHATHAM, IL – Donald E. Rader, 60, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1957, to Ernst and Esther (Stevens) Rader, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1985, he married Sheryl Kershaw who survives him.

Don graduated from Taylor University in 1979 and was then employed by Hobbs Corporation. He worked there 32 years through multiple ownership changes and was there when the doors were closed for the last time. He was then employed by Bunn-o-Matic Corporation until he was no longer able to work.

Don was a gentle and humble man of faith who trusted in the grace and mercy of his faithful Lord through a long and devastating illness. He was a life-long member of Southern View Chapel where he served faithfully in various capacities, including Elder and Church Treasurer. His faithful service impacted many lives throughout the years. Besides serving his church family, Don's greatest joy was time spent with his own family, especially his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Sheri, Don is survived by his sister, Gloria Rader (husband, Nicholas Stojakovich) of St. Augustine, FL; daughters, Karen (Daniel) Olewiler, Sarah (Joseph) Cornelius, and son, Michael Rader all of Springfield; and three grandchildren, Jonathan and Alaina Olewiler and Elise Cornelius.

Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at Jacksonville Memorial Lawn Cemetery, with Reverend Gary Gilley officiating.

The family will host a Memorial Gathering from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Southern View Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 6 p.m.
