SPRINGFIELD – Doris C. Robinson, 89, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024.
She was born in New Berlin on August 12, 1934, to Joseph V. and Mary E. (Reed) Haugh.
Doris graduated from St. Mary's Grade School and New Berlin High School and attended Brown's Business College. She married David P. Robinson in 1959 at Old St. Agnes Church in Springfield and they had three children, Judith, Kathryn and Michael.
Doris was employed by Franklin Life Insurance Company, the Illinois National Guard and later by Springfield School District 186, retiring in 1992.
Doris and David enjoyed traveling and spending time at their farm in Missouri. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends and working with plants and flowers in her garden.
She is survived by her husband, David; children, Judy Parker of New Berlin, Kathy Robinson (Townsend Shoulders) and Michael (Kathy Jo) Robinson, all of Springfield; five grandchildren, James "Jay" (Laura) Wagner of New Orleans, LA, Cody (Raegan) Parker, Spencer Robinson and Isabelle Robinson, all of Springfield and Lauren Robinson (Jacee Hammons) of Mt. Pulaski; sisters, Rosemary LeMasters of Lebanon, MO and Bernadine "Bunny" Pillar of Lombard; and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret "Margy" Dwyer; brother, Joseph B. Haugh; sister-in-law, Mary Claire Haugh; and brothers-in-law, Bernard "Bud" Dwyer, Harold LeMasters and Edward Pillar.
Doris wished to be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Dan Bergbower officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church and/or School or the Springfield Animal Protective League.
