SPRINGFIELD – Dorothy Ann Hart, 95, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025.

She was born May 19, 1930 to Morton William and Hazel Elizabeth (Upton) Spence, Jr. She married Bernard "Barney" Hart on April 8, 1951, at South Side Christian Church. He preceded her in death in 2024. Her brother, Morton "Mort" Spence, Jr., sister, Elizabeth Fenstermaker; and son-in-law, Wayne "Mo" Morrow also preceded her in death.

Dorothy was employed with Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 6 years. After raising her children, Dorothy became a CNA and was employed at St. John's Hospital in the pediatric department for 13 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of West Side Christian Church and Springfield Ceramics Craft Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Hart and Penni Hart; son-in-law, Anthony Trites; brother, Jack (Arja) Spence; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Cindy Lash officiating. Private inurnment in Camp Butler National Cemetery will be at a later date.
