Dorothy M. Malone departed this earth with her family at her bedside, on May 12th at Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Mount Pulaski on March 20th, 1929, and was predeceased by her mother Geneva Benzinger Aylesworth, and father, Roy Aylesworth. She was additionally predeceased by her siblings, Sue Rothstaad, Betty Scroggin, Louise Dunn, Bob Aylesworth, and Dick Aylesworth.

She married Edward Malone on June 21st, 1958, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  He also predeceased her.  Three children, Karen Tahir (Mohammed), Sharon Malone (George Nelson), and Michelle Sgro (Peter) survive.  Seven grandchildren, Crystal (Damien), Edward Joseph, Amber, Ashley, Salvatore, Isabella and Imran survive, with many fond memories of their grandmother.  Seven great-grandchildren, Desiree, Damien, Derrick, DeShaun, Dontay, twins, Brooklyn and Bishop, were able to spend many quality years with their great-grandmother. There are also three step-great-grandchildren, J'nya, Jada and Jakisa.

Dorothy is additionally survived by siblings, Mary Nelson (Fairfax, Virginia), Sonny Aylesworth (Mt. Pulaski, Illinois) and George Aylesworth (Fort Worth, Texas). She had many nieces and nephews, all surviving.

Prior to having children, Dorothy was an employee of Franklin Life Insurance Company, in the communications department.  After delivery of "the twins" she was a stay at home mom, and an avid gardener.  With her three daughters, she annually grew acres of vegetables, which Dorothy lovingly canned and stored away for winter use.  Dorothy and her girls spent hundreds of hours toiling in the heat and sharing memories with each other.  Many traditions were passed down from generation to generation. Her grandson, Edward Joseph, has planted a garden with Dorothy for many years. She loved watching movies with western themes, and detective shows, which she has passed on to her children.   Dorothy shared a love of animals with her family and raised chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, birds and a horse (Willie Winkle) on their land.   She was a member of the St. Patrick's Parish for nearly sixty years.

A Celebration of Life mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on May 25th at 6pm. A private graveside service was previously held.
