SPRINGFIELD - Douglas John Kestner, 59, of Springfield, Illinois passed away October 16, 2024 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born on January 4, 1965, he was the son of John and Linda L. Kestner of Payson, Illinois. After graduating high school, he went on to Western Illinois University where he graduated with a degree in computer programming.

He married his wife, Linda K. Bigelow, on September 30, 1989, and is survived by her, their four daughters: Michelle Rennier and husband, Mark, Jaclyn Rader and husband, Michael, Katelyn Crist and husband, Heath, and Kara Nelson and husband, Drew; and 11 grandchildren: Wade, Edythe, Lelia, Ephrem, Adeline, John, Jesse, Juliet, Declan, Evelyn, and Elliott. He is also survived by his parents and three sisters, Kathy Brink, Lisa Patrick and husband, Jeff and Lori Mays and husband, Jeff; mother-in-law, Sue Bigelow; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dixon Bigelow.

Doug not only left behind a personal family who loved him dearly, but also a church family and many friends who will miss his gift of singing, his generosity of time and resources, his work ethic, and his quick, impeccable humor. He was a man who loved the Lord, his family, making people laugh, collecting Oliver tractors, and traveling. While he will be dearly missed, it is a blessing to know he is with his Savior, Jesus Christ, free of sin and pain.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 pm at Southern View Chapel in Springfield, Illinois. The funeral will follow at the same location at 7:00 pm. A private family burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
