SPRINGFIELD, IL – Duane A. Hutchens, 48, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at his home.

He was born August 23, 1970, to William and Carolyn (Thorne) Hutchens. His parents and grandparents preceded him in death.

Duane achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer and retired as a meteorologist from the U.S. Navy. He was formerly employed by Sears and Green Toyota. He was a member of a bowling league and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Adrienne Hutchens; siblings, Gayla (Michael) Dyas, William Hutchens II, and Vincent Hutchens; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Department of Defense and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
