Obituary

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Fay, 86, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Memorial Hospice Heritage.

She was born March 2, 1932, to Harvey and Elizabeth (McCall) Stone.  She married Michael Fay on August 24, 1958, in Williamsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Stumper; and brother, Donald Stone.

Betty retired from the City of Springfield. She loved to knit, crochet and needlepoint.

She enjoyed singing in the choir and performed in "Oklahoma" and several other shows at the Muni.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Mary (Ernest) Nudo, Mark (Elaine) Fay, Patricia (Eric) Wittel and Kenneth Fay; six grandchildren, Alexis, Sabrina, Gina, Chandler, Michael and Benjamin; nine great-grandchildren, Izabelle, Akeelah, Malcolm, Griffin, Layla, Claire, Morgan, Devin Jr. and Charlotte; two sisters, Margaret Palm and Ida Watson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon, Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Eby officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
