SPRINGFIELD, IL – Ernest W. "Slugger" Harris, 58, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his home.

He was born in Springfield on August 24, 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Slugger was formerly employed by Rechner Tree Service. He enjoyed cars, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Shaw; four step-children; several brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Senior Services of Central Illinois, 701 W. Mason in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
