SPRINGFIELD, IL – Ernestine C. Vaught, 84, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born May 30, 1937, to Matias Ernesto and Maria (Arce) Cisneros. She married John R. Vaught on July 17, 1960.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Ernestine worked at Famous Barr in the gift-wrapping department and worked part time at the Illinois Department of Revenue. She loved fishing, bowling, ceramic painting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Mary Vaught, Dawn (Mark) Shedlebower, Patricia (Michael) Houser and Robbin Vaught (companion, Tony Manuele); grandchildren, Scot R. Underwood, Courtney Candage, Caitlin Shedlebower, Keith Shedlebower, Ashley Richardson, Alishia Richardson, Tami Gibbs, Amanda Summer, Stephanie Surratt and Angela Cohen; and great-grandchildren, Paul Underwood, Zayne Underwood, Noah Richardson, and Kenneth Neal, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Pastor Larry Hanson officiating.
