SPRINGFIELD, IL – Evelyn Rapps, 100, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at Regency Care.

She was born October 12, 1917, to Thomas and Anna (Niemeyer) Young. She married Richard Rapps in 1938, in Springfield and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Evelyn retired from the federal government after 17 years of service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Anchor Boat Club Auxiliary, Prairie Arts Chapter Embroidery Guild, and was a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Larry) Hight, Rita Sprague and Vickie (Glynn) Stamper; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., Thursday December 7, 2017, at Sacred Heart Church, with Reverend Kevin Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
