SPRINGFIELD – Floyd Eugene Thompson, 87, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at his home.

He was born in Kewanee on August 8, 1938, to Torgny and Eveline (Aden) Thompson. He married Judith Ann Bart on February 20, 1976, in Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thelbert and Dale Thompson; and best friend, Robert E. Fickes, Sr.

Floyd was a graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf. He was employed by Aramark for over 20 years. He attended West Side Christian Church and was a member of Springfield Deaf Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Lorena (Matthew) Klespitz, Luana Thompson (Sylvester) and Miles Thompson (Angel); grandchildren, Issiah, Milo and Gabriella; sister, Mary Hitchcock; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of eulogy at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Deaf Club.
