Obituary

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Frances Laura "Tootie" Duerr, 88, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

She was born March 4, 1930. She married Herbert Duerr in Springfield in 1949.  He preceded her in death on November 17, 2017, just a week before they were to celebrate their 68th anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeanie Vincent; grandson, Ronald Scattergood; sisters, Rosemary Buskis, Mary Ellen Crawford and Dorothy Hamrick; and brothers, Frank "Buddy" and Ross "Todd" Dunlevy.

Tootie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was tireless in her caretaking, no matter what age and always put others before herself. She loved her family with all her heart and devoted her life to taking care of them. Her passion was baking, and she made something nearly every day, even up to the end, generously treating everyone she knew to her cookies, pies and cakes. There are no words to adequately express the heartbreak and loss felt by the family.

She is survived by her children, Herb (Naomi), Stacey Scattergood and Teri (Bob) Casson; grandchildren, Cortney (Darrell) Sims, Brian Scattergood, Jaime Casson (Michael Orama), and Tanner Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and Dalton Scattergood, Sammie and Raygan Sims, and Dayton Casson; brother, Bryan (Penny) Dunlevy; sister-in-laws, Shirley Coville and Shirley Dunlevy; brother-in-law, Kenneth Duerr; several cousins, nieces, nephews and a special group of friends that were very dear to her.

Family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30 p.m.
