SPRINGFIELD – Frank Edward Houston, Sr., 90, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at his home.

He was born June 16, 1934 to Clarence and Nellie (Allington) Houston. He married Marilyn Roberts on August 22, 1958 in Springfield. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Frank was a self-employed plasterer for over 65 years and a custodian for Springfield School District 186 for 15 years. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed riding his bicycle. He cherished the time spent with his wife and children.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Monica Lynn (John) Bowling, Frank E. Houston, Jr., David Allen Houston, Scott Michael (Stephanie) Houston, Tami Sue (Camron) Fitzsimmons and Lisa Kay Houston; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Jean Hinkle; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Marilyn Houston or Third Presbyterian Church.
