SPRINGFIELD - Franklin Eugene "Nitty" Stemmons, Sr., 62, of Springfield passed away at home on March 27, 2024.

He was born on March 5, 1962, in Springfield, to Otis Crawford and Joyce Stemmons Williams (both deceased).

Frank worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for over 28 years.

Frank is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ja'Nice Stemmons; step-mother, Gertrude Crawford of Springfield; daughters, Francine Maxwell of Arlington, TX and Deanna Stemmons of Springfield; son, Franklin "Chris" Stemmons, Jr., of Springfield; sisters, Cathy (Louis) Jordan of Springfield, Deanna Williams of Peoria, Brenda (George) Bounds of Cedar Rapids, IA,  Monique (Brian) Leonard and Meletta Crawford, both of Belleville, Monica (companion, Shawn) of  Bloomindale, IL and Marcie Crawford of Lombard; brothers, Romeo (Patti) Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA, James "Junior" Williams and Christopher Williams, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Zion and Brian Maxwell of Arlington, TX and Andrea and Khali Lawuary of Springfield, special uncles, Carl and Roger Stemmons of Springfield; and his dog, Pete.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 South Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive on April 11, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am for viewing and Homegoing Ceremony Services will begin at 11:15 am with Reverend Anthony "Andy" Crawford officiating.
