Fred A. McAllister, 74, of Springfield, passed away June 6, 2024, at home.

He was born October 2, 1949 to Alfred and Anna McAllister. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Bob McAllister; and sister, Joann Powell.

Fred married Diane on July 6, 1987 in Nashville, Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; and children, Anna (Brent) Mason, Fred (Cynthia) McAllister, Jr., Shannon Dawn McAllister, Shannon Diane Gibson, and Shawn Gibson. Fred adored all of his grandchildren, Jimmy, Emily, Anne Marie, Shelby, Kassidy, Katelyn, Savannah, Zachary, Jessica, and Gavin. He also held love in his heart for his four great-granddaughters, McKenna, Bailee, Bristol, and Remi.

Fred worked driving trucks cross-country. In his spare time, he was the lead singer and bass player in a local band named the Desperados. He enjoyed country music, playing guitar, spending time with his longtime friend Ron Miller and hanging out at Harry's Adult Daycare. Fred was a good man, husband, and father. In every song we hear, Fred's voice can be heard singing out in the chorus. Fred will always be found in the laughter of a good joke and the happiness of a shared drink on a hot night.

Fred's celebration of life will be held at a later date, this date is yet to be determined.
