SPRINGFIELD – Garnette Mae Winch, 98, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at her home.

She was born December 19, 1925 to Carl and Dalsie (Mahurin) Sapp. She married John Edward Winch on March 8, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Garnette was a homemaker and retired from Sears Retail Garden and Toy Department.  She was an avid square dancer with John and played BUNCO and Pinochle.  She was a gifted seamstress and china painter and was a former member of West Side Christian Church.

She is survived by her children, James Thomas (Sharon) Winch, Carol Jane (Robert) Griffith, Donald Lee (Karen) Winch, Alice Marie Winch and Ralph Edward (Kathy) Winch; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Cindy Lash officiating. To view the service live CLICK HERE
