SPRINGFIELD, IL – Gene C. Hurt, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born March 1, 1933, to William G. and Della (Jensen) Hurt. He married Diane L. Hopkins on April 19, 1969 in Springfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Glenn Hurt.

Gene was a US Air Force veteran. He was a residential appraiser and realtor and owner of Gene Hurt Real Estate for over 50 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Springfield Board of Realtors/MLS and 1970's Chairman of ABC Club Grandstand Concession. He was a former member of Springfield Home Builder's Association and former Chairman of Parade of Homes.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Laurie (Phil) Flood; six grandchildren, William, Gene, Peyote, Cody, Erin and Lacey; sister-in-law, Judith Hopkins; several nieces and nephews; a very special nephew, Mark Hopkins, his wife, Bev, and their five children, Lindsey (Brad), Jenna, Seth, Elias and Emma; two great-great nephews, Bodie and Avett; and great-great niece, Sutton.

Per Gene's wishes, private family services will be held.
