Genevieve M. Opolka, age 90, of Auburn, Illinois peacefully passed away on May 14, 2025, in her home.

Genevieve was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of David and Mary Bolletto on October 3, 1934. She was raised by her grandmother, Anna Bednarchik, and her uncle, George Bednarchik, in Thayer, Illinois.

Genevieve married Charles Opolka in 1952. He passed away in November 2012.

Genevieve was a lifelong resident of Auburn. She was an active member of the Holy Cross Parrish and the Holy Rosary Society, and the Auburn Senior Citizens.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Sue Tranquilli of Saint Charles, Illinois, Lucy Dixon of Auburn, Illinois, and Georgia Hagmann, of Springfield, Illinois;  one son , Chuck Opolka of Lyon France, a sister Margaret, Hays of Thayer, Illinois; and  a brother David Bolletto, also of Thayer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anne-Marie Hood.

Genevieve was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She took great joy in all of their activities, attending most all of their sporting and school events, and watching them grow.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
