SPRINGFIELD, IL – George T. Young, Sr., 76, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at his home.

He was born August 5, 1941, to Ralph and Ruth (Carter) Young. He married Jean Neal on February 28, 1959. He was preceded in death by a son, George T. Young, Jr.; brother, Charlie Young and sisters, Pat McLean and Evelyn Carter.

George retired from the Springfield Public Works Department.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Jeffrey Young and Tina (Todd) Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brothers, LeRoy Young and Jim (Linda) Young and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
