Harriet Grace Higgs, 90, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024 at her daughter's home.

She was born October 21, 1933 to Oscar J. and Hattie Marie (Evans) Macklin. She married George W. Higgs on March 16, 1952 in Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Phillip David Higgs; grandson, Mitchell W. Nein; great-grandchildren, Trevor Michael Hayden and Ocean Savannah Siegrist; sister, Helen Macklin; and brother, Bill Macklin.

Harriet was a homemaker and had been a Sunday School teacher at Salisbury Christian Church.

She loved to garden and enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She was very artistic and was an inspiration to many.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Joe) James, Gene Higgs, Pam (Mike) Krueger, Brenda (Doug) Nickelson, and Kathy (Mitch) Nein; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchild; brother, Robert (Beverly) Macklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at Arborcrest Memorial Park near Effingham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salisbury Christian Church.
