SPRINGFIELD, IL – Helen M. Mohler, 95, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021, at her home.

She was born May 7, 1925, to Howard Jefferson and Reperta (Cundiff) Stine. She married William Mohler on March 10, 1945, in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Willie, Vernon and Donald Stine; and sisters, Mary Ethel Sperry and Delores Stine.

Helen was previously employed at The Shoe Factory. She was a nurse's aide at Memorial Medical Center for 18 years and later was a babysitter for three families. Helen and Bill were foster parents for many years. Everyone enjoyed her caramels, prize-winning divinity, sugar cookies and fudge.

She is survived by her children, Richard Mohler, William Joseph Mohler, and Judith Mohler; sister, Betty Barlow; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. CDC guidelines will be followed and attendance will be limited to 50 attendees at a time. Face masks are required.
