NEW BERLIN, IL – Ima Jean Cummings, 89, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born July 19, 1928, to Alvie and Hattie (Bearden) Speaks. She married Billy Cummings in 1950, in Springfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, William LeRoy and Marty Cummings; grandson, Ernest William Cummings; brothers, George, Richard, Ernest, Donald, Raymond Lee and Robert Speaks; and sister, Carolyn Merriman.

Ima had worked as Dietary Manager at St. Francis Convent and St. Joseph's Home.  She was former president of Central District Dietary Managers Association.

Ima Jean enjoyed bingo, pinochle, jigsaw puzzles, reading, cooking, the monthly Cousins Luncheons and above all, spending time with family. She will be dearly missed!!!

She is survived by her children, Ernest (Linda) Cummings, William H. (Yvonne) Cummings, Gloria Tungate and Edith Miller; brother, Lawrence (Eileen) Speaks; sisters, Wanda Freeman and Bonnie Speaks (John Halstead); 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be accorded by Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in July to honor her 90th Birthday.
