SPRINGFIELD – James "Jim" Robert Crowe, 78, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at his home.

He was born September 30, 1944, to Clarence James and Robbie (Rhodes) Crowe. He married Dynean Hemphill on June 9, 2007, in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Crowe; sister, Eunice Hoopes; and his parents.

Jim served in the US navy. He was a natural caregiver beginning his career at the Jacksonville Developmental Center and later becoming a nurse and patient advocate for St. John's Hospital, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed camping, boating, golfing, fishing, hiking and shooting his guns. He also enjoyed watching TV, especially Chicago PD. Jim was a stock car racer and loved to fly planes. He was a great cook and loved to grill. He also had an amazing wit and incredible sense of humor. His intelligence and bits of trivia were unrivaled. He had over 70 pets in his life and loved every one of them dearly. He held a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren. They brought him so much joy. He and Dynean loved spending time with their family.

He is survived by his wife, Dynean; children, Timothy Ames Crowe of California and Nicki (Matt) Lautemann of Colorado; ten grandchildren, Kinzi Joy, Karli JJ, Hailey Lewis, Jacob, Matthew, Tristan, Chloe, Victor, Novalee and Maverick; one great-grandchild, Amaya; and several nieces and nephews.
