SPRINGFIELD, IL – James R. "Tike" Dyer, Jr., 76, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at his home.

He was born November 23, 1941, to James R. and Catherine (Riedinger) Dyer, Sr. He married Sharon Greenslade on July 1, 1978. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John and stepdaughter, Sherry Rath.

Tike was formerly employed by Sangamo Electric and Borden Chemical. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Robert Dyer (Joe Palla), Donald Dyer, Kimberly Daugherty; stepdaughters, Missy (Bob) Campbell, Renee Saccaro and Brenda (Jim) Wessing; stepson, David (Barbie) Greenslade; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted (Janis) and Don (Delorise) Dyer; sisters, Edna Loman and Rose (Albert) Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Service: 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
