SPRINGFIELD – James D. Mudd, 82, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at Mason City Area Nursing Home.

He was born December 7, 1943, in Loami to Daniel and Dorothy (McCray) Mudd; both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Randy Mudd.

James was previously a member of World Harvest Church and current member of Faith Christian Center in St. Louis. He enjoyed fishing in his free time.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki; son, Seth (Corinne) Mudd; step-children, Terrence Christian, Beth and Carrie; sister, Pam Mudd-Rothlauf; brothers, Richard Mudd, Larry "Pat" Mudd and Greg Mudd; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held 4 – 6 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Private inurnment at Chatham Memorial Cemetery will be at a later date.
