Obituary

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Jane Huffman, 96, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Memorial Hospice at Heritage.

She was born March 4, 1921, to Walter and Faye (Carman) Wood. She married Robert Huffman in 1941 in Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Dick, Bobby, John Lyman and Tom Wood; and two sisters, Dorothy Hoffman and Mary Wood.

Jane, along with her husband, Bob, farmed in the Springfield area for 72 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Fa-Ho-Cha Mission Circle, Ladies Aid, Farm Bureau and Coachman Camper Club. She enjoyed reading, cross-stitch and word searches. She loved doing her own yardwork until the age of 87, when her daughters, forbade her to get on the tractor. She loved visits from her family, especially the grands, greats and great-greats.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Van Eman, Janet McQuinn and Susan Huffman; grandchildren, Sheila (Bob) Bartletti, Jennifer (Moose) Nika, Brenda Van Eman (Nicole Horve), Jason (Tracy) McQuinn and Jill (Aaron) Andrews; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; siblings, Don Wood, Bill (Nancy) Wood and Deena Stuhmer; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Mark Estrop officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
