SPRINGFIELD, IL – Jay B. Baskett, Sr., 85, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1932, to Lee and Fannie (Jamerson) Baskett.
Jay retired from Allis-Chalmers. He was a colorful character who had lots of stories about his adventures in life.
He is survived by his children, William, Jay B. Baskett, Jr., and Deanna; 3 granddaughters; companion, Lillian Graham and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christie Baskett; sisters, Sarah, Grace, Bertha, Irene and Louise; brothers, Bedford, Fred and Cledas.
