SPRINGFIELD, IL – Jay Harlin Shapiro, 85, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home.

He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 31, 1936. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Adelstein Shapiro; sister, Harriet Dubinsky; and brother-in-law, Albert Dubinsky.

Jay was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a hairstylist for over 60 years and was a 7 ^th degree black belt with Tracy's Kenpo Karate. He enjoyed fashion, traveling, painting, big dogs and elephants.

He is survived by his niece, Lisa Dubinsky; nephew, Keith Dubinsky; and great-nephew, Milo.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-5 Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Harvest Market.
