John Richard "Richard" Graves, 71, of Illiopolis Illinois, passed away on November 8, 2023 in Springfield, Illinois. He was born on November 9, 1951, in Decatur, Illinois. Richard is survived by his three sons from his first marriage, John Edward, Jeffrey Richard, and Michael Ryan, as well as his son, Blaine Richard from his second marriage. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Joey and Gina Graves.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Ira Edward Graves, and his mother, Marjorie Ann Hagen Graves.

Richard graduated from Illiopolis High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. He had a successful career, working for many years alongside his parents at I Graves Motor Company in Illiopolis, IL, and later at Landmark Ford.

In his free time, Richard excelled at and enjoyed many sports, including running marathons, biking, and playing tennis. He was a dedicated and active individual who found joy in staying physically active.

A memorial service is being planned for Richard in December. Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home in Springfield, Illinois is assisting the family with the arrangements. There will be no formal services.
