SPRINGFIELD – John R. "Bobby" Fricke, 70, departed life and rode his horse into the heavens on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

He was born August 31, 1952, to Robert and Jennie (Zappia) Fricke, both of whom preceded him in death.

Bobby was employed by R.L. Fricke Construction and was a member of Carpenter's Local 270. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and playing games, especially horse shoes, backgammon, chess, Blitz, pool and darts. He was an avid Cardinals and Packers fan.

He is survived by his children, Amy (Robert) Montgomery, Brad Fricke and Jimmy Fricke; grandchildren, Brandon (Morgan), Alexis, Alaina, Brentlee; great-grandchildren, Carter and Maddox; companion, Sheri Appleby; sisters, Debbie (Ken) Gillman and Tina (Mike) Harmony; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Fund of Illinois or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
