SPRINGFIELD, IL – John P. Taylor, 73, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, at his home.

John was born December 3, 1948, to Llewellyn and Lula (Colvin) Taylor. He married Deborah Steelman on October 27, 1979, in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Osing; and brother, Bud Taylor.

John was a self-employed attorney. He was a member of MENSA, Illinois State Bar Association and HICKS. He served as treasurer for the Illinois Humane Society and as an attorney for Sojourn. He enjoyed cooking, Formula One racing and traveling to Europe. He was a pilot and loved flying. He especially loved spoiling and spending time with his granddaughter, Stella.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Sarah Taylor; granddaughter, Stella; sisters, Sue Buxton and Rebecca Smith; brother, Richard Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Estrop officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an education fund for Stella c/o Deborah Taylor.
