CANTRALL – Joseph T. DeRosa, 71, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at his home.

He was born October 20, 1954, to Joseph and Mildred Jane (Metzmaker) DeRosa, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Pete DeRubis and a sister, Joetta. He married Gwen Griffitts on February 27, 1998, in Springfield.

Joe was the owner and operator of DeRosa’s Auto Body for 40 years and former owner and operator of Joseppe’s Bar in the 80’s. He was an avid golfer and shuffleboard player, and most would say Joe was the best shuffleboard player around.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen; children, Kendra (Melissa) DeRosa, Ernie Gentry, Troy (Shea) DeRosa, Colton (BreAnna) DeRosa and Onah DeRosa; sister, Mary Jo DeRosa; many grandchildren that blessed his life; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Baker officiating.
